As presented in previous news, Iberia held a meeting with Air Nostrum (an airline of Iberia Group) to present them the Zero Cabin Waste project. During this meeting, Iberia presented the good practices developed by the ZCW to perform a selective collection of waste during the flight and the new waste bins designed for this purpose.
On March 27, Air Nostrum carried out a test flight with bicompartmented bins to assess how they can implement the Zero Cabin Waste on their flights. To do this, they chose the Air Nostrum flight Madrid-Frankfurt-Madrid (IB8614-IB8615), in which two bicompartmented bins were loaded.
The feedback obtained from the crew after the flight was very positive, with Air Nostrum deciding to design their own recycling bins adapted to the needs of their flights and thus be able to implement selective waste collection.
During the next months, Air Nostrum will carry out more test flights until they define their own onboard waste collection protocol. During this process, they will have the support of the Zero Cabin Waste work team.
