During March 8th to 9th, the Zero Cabin Waste team, together with Airbus and Iacobucci, developed a workshop where the new waste-trolley design that Airbus and Iacobucc have developed together was presented.

This trolley allows to sort cabin waste in origin presenting also a solution to collect waste more efficiently and ease the management of liquid waste on board.

The workshop took place at the crew lounge in Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas airport, terminal 4. In this lounge, IBERIA’s crew wait for their flights, making this location suitable to interact with them dynamically.

The main objective of this workshop was to present to the crew the solutions on sustainable waste management that the industry is developing as well as to present a trolley design that follows the objective of the project ZCW, taking advantage of this to boost the internal dissemination of the project in IBERIA.

Additionally, a formative poster on how to classify residues has been installed in this lounge in order to help the crew become familiar with the classification of waste to be implemented on board.

Taking advantage of the high interest that the crew showed during the activity, the Zero Cabin Waste team could gather information on the characteristics that a waste-trolley must have in order to not interfere with the current onboard procedures of the crew and allowing as well the sort of residues.
