Analysis of catering waste generated in the airplane
In this preliminary action of the “Life + Zero Cabin Waste” project, Ecoembes has analyzed the waste that arrives from different flights, from Iberia to Madrid airport, in order to know what kind of waste might be found in each one.
This study will help us to develop, later, a management integrated model that includes reduction, reusing and recycling of the cabin waste. This preliminary activity has consisted in screening and benchmarking the flights (e.g.:Non European Union / European Union), the type of classes and food menus within each flight (business / tourist) and the type of waste (organic and inorganic) that is associated to each one.
