From today, and in the coming weeks, those passengers traveling on some Iberia flights will be able to see how waste separation is carried out on board with a new compartmented trolley prototype. These are the chosen flights:

  • 06.06.2018 – Madrid – Barcelona – Madrid (IB0830 – IB1101)

  • 08.06.2018 – Madrid – Stockholm – Madrid (IB3314 – IB3315)

  • 11.06.2018 – Madrid – Prague – Madrid (IB3148 – IB3149)

  • 13.06.2018 – Madrid  – London – Madrid (IB3162 – IB3175)

  • 19.06.2018 – Madrid – Paris – Madrid (IB3436 – IB3435)

Each flight will carry two waste trolleys, one for economy class and another for business class. The trolley has an interior bucket with a dividing bar at the top that allows two bags to be hung, one for recyclable waste (light packaging and paper) and non-recyclable waste (organic matter and other waste).

The main objectives of this test are:

  • Check the functionality of the new trolley prototype for Iberia crew and for Gate Gourmet staff, who are responsible for installing and removing the bags.

  • Evaluate the suitability of the stickers used to identify each compartment, since the indications have been improved thanks to the observations made by the crew in previous tests.

After each flight, the quantity and quality of the separated waste will be recorded and the feedback of the crew and staff of Gate Gourmet will be obtained.
